I'm amused that there's a band called "Anúna."

They're a choral group, and absolutely fantastic. Maybe they're from the O.Z.... brought together by the meddling of their grandmothers (Nunas!).

Actually, they're from Ireland. So… Just, what, a half-block from the O.Z.?

Ginger And Peach Chicken

lol, you guys… I just found this on a rack in my nuna's kitchen! Sounds like something Raw and Fitzhugh would make.

Ginger And Peach Chicken
Preparation Time: 2 minutes - Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Nonstick spray coating

4 medium (12 ounces total) boneless skinless chicken breast halves

1 8-ounce can peach slices in light syrup

1 teaspoon cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon grated gingerroot, OR 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 of an 8-ounce can (1/2 cup) sliced water chestnuts, drained

2 cups hot cooked rice

1 6-ounce package frozen pea pods, cooked and drained

* Spray a large skillet with nonstick spray coating. Preheat skillet over medium heat. Add chicken. Cook over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes or till tender and no longer pink; turn to brown evenly. Remove from skillet; keep warm.

* Meanwhile have your sexy assistant, drain peaches, reserving juice. Add water to juice to equal 1/2 cup. Stir in cornstarch, gingerroot, and salt. Add to skillet. Cook and still till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1 minute more. Gently stir in peaches and water chestnuts; heat through.

* On a serving platter or 4 individual plates arrange rice, pea pods, and chicken. Spoon sauce over chicken. Serves 4.

OK, yeah it’s not really that big of a deal. But this is super weird.

Remember the Baum-to-Al coincidence with Allegro and such, back last year? Well, I just encountered another one. Gatechic and I were commenting about the Baum books, and I said that I’d finished reading them through book four, but I wasn’t sure it was book four, so I went to Wiki to check. It’s actually book 5, The Road To Oz. I told Gatechic that I didn’t think anyone could ever be greater than Polychrome.

She’s the one that I told you has golden hair and violet eyes, like Lavynia [
and as Az gains later
]… Well, I was reading about Polychrome on Wiki, and some of her other contributions in the Famous Forty Oz canon. I read this and about had kittens:

Polychrome may have originated in a similar figure in Baum's dramatic treatment Prince Silverwings. In that play, Nuna, daughter of the Storm King, is missing from the ranks of her sister Cloud Maidens.

*dies and is dead*

Granted, it’s from one of his plays, not from the Oz books, but still. Isn’t that weird? O.o
